DISCOVERY CHANNEL - CHINA MOBILE
Haroko was commissioned to seamlessly transform from one environment to another with three already designed layouts provided by Discovery Asia Inc.
With a tight deadline looming ahead, Haroko approached the task at hand by first building all three separate environments, and then started figuring out where all the "break" points are. What follows next is the main process of deciding which walls "belongs" to which wall of another environment or which piece of furniture will morph to which furniture of the other environment.
Greenscreen plates were matchmoved and set fitting was next. Viewing through the matchmoved camera helped in deciding which transformation will or will not be seen, therefore more emphasis could be placed on transformations that occupied the most screen space and those that stay for the longest duration.
The water in the pool was created using a straight forward and typical approach of adding several levels of animated noise onto an animated plane.
